Assassin's Creed Reveals Bizarre Attack on Titan Event for Thanksgiving

In a unexpected collaboration that defies conventional expectations, Ubisoft has announced an digital collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including free extra story content for Shadows players.

Strange Questline Disclosed

According to the authorized announcement, "An unusual encounter leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where whispers of forbidden practices and fearsome transformations resonate through the darkness." The storyline introduces a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a clandestine group.

The questline centers on "peculiar tests and a fearsome adversary" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Settings and Changes

The preview features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview ends with a striking sequence showing a character, presumably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Rewards and Bonus Material

Players who finish the adventure will acquire an exclusive katana in addition to multiple items secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Special arms
• Survey Corps steed

Latest Free Story Update

This patch also brings the game's newest complimentary story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature skills: Naoe debuts a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a original environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This represents not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime series. The series formerly included a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
