Close to 25,000 Lost Electricity in Queensland and Victoria Following Severe Storms

Nearly 25,000 homes in Queensland's southeast woke up experiencing outages on the start of the week after powerful weather events swept through the area, bringing wind gusts topping 109km/h.

Massive Hailstones and Broad Damage

Locals observed substantial frozen pellets reaching sizes of seven centimeters in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that different parts across Queensland had been affected by significant hail.

Emergency crews were attempting to repair power throughout the affected regions, with dozens of response units working to address the numerous electricity disruptions.

Victorian Storm Challenges

Meanwhile, around one thousand households in the southern state also encountered electricity disruptions after the capital city saw its most precipitation in 18 months.

State Emergency Services received nearly 600 requests for assistance across the area, mainly for property damage but also for fallen timber and water accumulation.

• The Werribee area - experienced significant storm damage
• Hoppers Crossing suburb - multiple assistance requests
• Wyndham area - nearly 180 help reports

During the peak on the previous day, more than 28,000 power users in the state were experiencing outages.

Meteorological Predictions

Humid circumstances were predicted to continue along much of the state's eastern regions this week as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.

Tomorrow was forecast to be the most rainy day, with persistent storm activity anticipated across various areas of both areas.

Safety Concern

Medical authorities warned that there was an increased chance of weather-related respiratory issues across the countryside regions, particularly given the current weather patterns.
