Esteemed actress Helen Mirren Will Be Awarded Golden Globe Cecil B DeMille Award.

The celebrated UK star Helen Mirren, already winner of an Academy Award, four Baftas, Globes trophies, five Emmy Awards, and a Tony, is set to earn an additional esteemed prize to her trophy case: the Cecil B. DeMille Golden Globe lifetime honor.

Honors Presentation

The actress, eighty, formerly honored as a dame in 2003 and made a Bafta fellow in 2014, will accept the accolade during a presentation January 8, shortly before the Golden Globes main event occur, during a ceremony promoted by the organization as Golden Eve.

Additionally featuring the awarding of the organization’s Carol Burnett award for small-screen contributions, the recipient of which remains unannounced. Last year’s winners featured Viola Davis and Ted Danson.

“Helen Mirren is a force of nature, with a career is absolutely exceptional,” remarked the Golden Globes president, president of the Golden Globes. “Her captivating roles and devotion to her art persistently influence numerous actors and viewers as well. We are deeply honored to bestow upon her the Cecil B DeMille award.”

Career Highlights

The star rose to fame back in the 70s with key roles in theater in the West End of London and with the RSC as well as in movies like O Lucky Man!, Caligula & The Long Good Friday.

During the nineties, her prominent part in the investigative show Prime Suspect expanded her audience further. Other important films feature Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park and Calendar Girls.

She earned an Academy Award for her performance as the Queen in the cinematic work The Queen, a part she returned to back in 2013 in The Audience, Peter Morgan’s play about the meetings involving the monarch and premier Thatcher, and for which she earned a Tony in 2015.

• Later-career movies feature Hitchcock, The Last Station, Woman in Gold, The Debt, Golda & Barbie, which she narrated.
• Her role in the Netflix version of The Thursday Murder Club has garnered acclaim with award talk is growing about her portrayal as a dying matriarch in Winslet’s directorial debut, Goodbye June.
• Next year, Mirren will be seen in the role of Patricia Highsmith in the drama by Anton Corbijn, Switzerland.

Globes nominations are set to be revealed December 8, including the film by Paul Thomas Anderson One Battle After Another, Zhao’s Hamnet along with Ryan Coogler’s Sinners likely to receive multiple nominations.
