Prosecutors have stated that a former physician has been charged with committing sexual assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – including some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
A senior prosecutor said, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The charges come after what police called a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
