Iran Reports Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Widespread Military Operations.

Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in response for a significant and continuing attack against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any damage is not yet known and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - said they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

IRGC Statement

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck locations linked to the the regime, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the government.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with notable success and shot down a several projectiles," it added.

The statement noted debris fell on a populated district in the capital, causing some material damage and the death of one civilian.

The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
