Pat Bamford Signs With Sheffield United After Initiating Derogatory Songs About Coach Chris Wilder

The striker is now a member of Sheffield United just seven months following leading disrespectful songs directed at their manager, Wilder.

The 32-year-old forward, a free agent after departing from Leeds, has agreed to a deal with the second-tier strugglers until January. Bamford's lengthy time at Elland Road concluded by mutual consent in August.

One of the player's final notable acts as a Leeds player involved leading offensive chants about Chris Wilder during Leeds' promotion party in April. Currently, the former England international is set to play under Wilder as Sheffield United's boss seeks to pull his beloved club away from the bottom places.

Previous History Between Bamford and Wilder

The pair had previous conflict before Leeds moved up to the Premier League the previous campaign and United were defeated in the promotion decider by Sunderland. Wilder described Bamford as “a muppet” when the situation was different during the 2018-19 season and Sheffield United won direct promotion whereas Leeds United fell short in the playoffs.

Making Amends & Looking Ahead

Everything seems has been forgiven and forgotten with Sheffield United, the league's lowest scorers, in desperate need of a boost up front while Bamford aiming to resurrect his career.

The song about Wilder spread widely in April. An apologetic Bamford and the Leeds manager, Daniel Farke, called the Sheffield United manager the following day.

Chris Wilder commented at the time: “Had a conversation with Pat yesterday and I’ve no problem whatsoever with that. I'm uncertain regarding the words used from a fellow pro! But I valued and admired him giving me a call.

“We had 20 minutes and the same again I spoke to Daniel Farke as well and had a half-hour chat together and he's a super guy, a class act. When I was playing we would give it and accept it and that’s an integral part of football across all levels, including Sunday league. I have no problem at all. I'm fine with the situation and I said that to Patrick.”

Latest Career Challenges

Bamford featured in 18 games for Leeds last season but the former Forest, Chelsea & Boro player has faced difficulties with fitness issues in recent years.
