This Swine Life: Pig Named 6-7 Pardoned by Miami Dade County Leader.

It might not have been at the identical stature as pardoning festive fowl, but the mayor of Miami-Dade conducted a Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. She is worthy of this pardon. No offenses are on her docket,” stated the mayor in a speech with inescapable allusions to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued from the start of the commencement of a second term in office.

“Unless you count eating six or seven apples per day,” she went on. “I hope she experiences a lengthy and joyful existence without fear.”

This ceremony, which both honors and questions the region’s Hispanic tradition of feasting on pork during the holidays, was founded to emulate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The swine, donated by a first responder, was named for the current slang trend of young people exclaiming “six-seven” – deriving from a musical verse – often for no discernable reason. The craze became so ubiquitous that a leading lexicon site recently named “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.

A Peaceful Retirement

The pardoned swine is now destined to live out its days at a countryside refuge “away from grills and cookware”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“This swine clemency has become one of our favorite ways to begin the end-of-year celebrations,” said Eric Castellanos, in a notably cheerful message.

“It embodies the spirit of Miami: joyful, varied, and grounded in customs that unite the community. Every time, we are honored to observe culture and compassion in a way unique to Miami.”

Guests enjoyed a plant-based fare of croquettes and strong coffee as they toasted the swine's new lease on life.
