President Trump revealed on the weekend that he has invited the relatives of a National Guard member killed last week to visit the White House.

He noted that he contacted her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a attack on last Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.

The commander-in-chief explained he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the parents of both members of the state Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” Trump told reporters. “And in the same way with him, no matter the outcome.”

Community members came together over the weekend at Webster County high school in the state to honor Beckstrom.

Both the soldiers had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to support public safety in Washington DC.

“She was the individual that instructors desired. She behaved with quiet strength, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that lifted those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of her former high school, told the Associated Press. “She was caring, compassionate and always ready to help others.”

Authorities have indicted a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of first-degree murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The tragedy prompted the Trump administration to suspend refugee claims and cease granting visas to possessors of travel documents.

Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, as reported by the AP.

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a law enforcement officer with excellence, according to the state guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had fortitude,” he told the crowd at the service. “Though her life ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
